Enterprise Names Leader for Solutions Division 

Janis Bowdler has been named president of the Solutions Division at Enterprise Community Partners. She is based in the organization’s Washington, D.C., office but will engage with stakeholders across the nation.

In her new role, Bowdler will provide strategic guidance to Enterprise’s management team, leading its programmatic and advisory work, as well as policy innovation at the state and local level across Enterprise’s national network of regional offices.

She joins Enterprise after recently serving as a senior fellow at the Equis Institute, where she focused on building a policy agenda for Latino economic mobility, and as a senior fellow at AmericaFWD, a new nonprofit committed to ensuring infrastructure investments build broadly shared wealth and prosperity. Prior to Equis, Bowdler was the Treasury Department’s first counselor for racial equity, spearheading major investments under the American Rescue Plan and Inflation Reduction Act and founded the department’s Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility. She also served as president of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, leveraging a $2 billion global portfolio with the goal of expanding economic opportunity.

Bowdler succeeds Baaba Halm and Meaghan Shannon Vlkovic, interim co-presidents of the Solutions Division.. Halm and Vlkovic will maintain their current posts of senior vice president, programs.

Fairstead Announces Promotion

Robert Barnard has been elevated to senior director, development, at Fairstead, a national real estate owner and manager.

Based in the firm’s Washington, D.C., regional office, Barnard manages the development of affordable housing nationwide. His team is seated across the East Coast, overseeing deals ranging from Fairstead’s first ground-up deal in Alexandria, Virginia, to 4% low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) transactions in Houston and preservation efforts in New York.

He joined Fairstead in 2021, bringing prior experience at a Mid-Atlantic-based affordable housing developer, leading the development of more than 1,000 affordable and mixed-income units. He remains active in the region, serving on the Leadership Council of the Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance.

Fairstead owns a portfolio of more than 26,000 units across 28 states.

 

Hunt Capital Partners Adds to Team

Kate Chavez has been named senior director, investor relations, at Hunt Capital Partners, where she will focus on cultivating and strengthening the firm’s proprietary and multi-investor relationships.

She brings more than 20 years of experience in the affordable housing industry, including 14 years at Enterprise Housing Credit Investments, where she most recently served as managing director of investor relations.

In addition to her experience raising equity and underwriting LIHTC transactions, she has provided financial services to technology companies.

Avesta Housing Appoints Chief of Staff

Kate Cordaro has been promoted to chief of staff at Avesta Housing, the largest nonprofit affordable housing developer in northern New England.

Cordaro joined Avesta Housing in 2016 and previously served in various roles focused on board support, communications, and executive administration. As chief of staff, she supports the president and CEO and works closely with internal teams and community partners to ensure Avesta Housing’s vision is effectively translated into action.

Headquartered in Portland, Maine, the organization operates 100 affordable properties, more than 3,000 apartments, and two assisted living facilities, providing safe, affordable homes for more than 4,000 people every day.

Kiser Group Launches Affordable Housing Division

Kiser Group, a leading multifamily brokerage firm, has announced an affordable housing division, a new business service dedicated to serving clients focused on mission-driven investments and community-impact development.

The division will be led by directors Alex Mora and Spencer Burd, who bring specialized expertise in affordable housing transactions, public-private partnerships, and long-term investment strategies.

“Affordable housing allows us to work at the intersection of impact and investment,” Mora said. “We’re helping clients structure deals that not only make financial sense but also support communities that need quality, accessible housing.”

Prior to joining Kiser Group, Mora worked at a national real estate brokerage, where he focused on Year 15 and partnership interest sales through LIHTCs, U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Section 515, project-based Section 8, and Department of Housing and Urban Development-financed assets, in addition to new construction projects in their lease-up phase.

Burd spent more than a decade at another multifamily brokerage, where he specialized in affordable housing and developed a comprehensive understanding of operational analysis across diverse multifamily product types, providing tailored solutions for clients’ investment goals.
